Organic Process
It is important to us that you leave our studio feeling and looking amazing. As with all fabulous products, the process is all important, this is where we at weirdsistAs believe our method will produce a great success.
What is the Process
Full dreads: before we book you in for a full dread experience you will be asked to visit the studio for a free consultation. This process is so we can give you an approximate quote and discuss with you the style and concepts you had in mind, we will also use this time to show you our technique and should you be happy with our recommendations, we will then book you in for a dread-work day. For this you will need to be at the studio for at least six hours. You will arrive in the morning and the day will start with a head massage with an essential oil suited to your hair type, this stimulates the head and hair follicle, whilst conditioning the hair and relaxing you into a day of total care. We then begin to section your hair, starting at the base of the neck to get an even and natural fall. The size and width of your dreads will depend upon our discussion, which is done at the time of consultation. We believe at weirdsistas that sectioning is the beginning to a beautiful artwork, each strand of sectioning is weaved into a perfect dread. Once your whole head is dreaded, we then finish with a sea salt spray and essential oiling of the dread. You will leave the studio with a weird package which contains, an instruction manual, a bottle of essential oil, a sea spray and a free first visit back booking, usually the following week. We like to see all clients one week later, so we can discuss your dreads and make sure you are enjoying them as much as you imagined.
Why we don't use wax at weirdsistAs HQ
wax in itself can cause buildup of dirt, as it attracts
all particles to the dreadlock, causing the dread to eventually disintegrate
or rot, combined with backcombing, this method can produce looping in
the dread, as the hair is unable to dread where the wax is inserted. we
find a more complementary method of maintaining dreadlocks, is to weave
the hair into a dread, followed by regular applications of essential oils
and sea salt. this allows the dread to continue its growth pattern in
a more natural process, encouraging strength and shape, with no looping,
weaknesses or wax buildup. weirdsistAs studios, offer not only wax free
dreadlocks, but can also assist you in removing the wax from your dreads,
should this have been your previous maintenance. this can be done without
removing your dreads and is obtained without the use of chemicals. the
weirdsistAs believe that dreadlocks should be easy and natural to look
after, we believe that this accent art is a process that helps you develop
a relationship to your body mind and soul.
